HARMONY ACUPUNCTURE, LLC

FAQ

1. Is acupuncture safe?

Acupuncture is a FDA approved treatment. Our practice only utilizes disposable, sterilized needles therefore there is no risk of transmitting blood-borne diseases during therapy.

2. What should I expect during the first visit?

At the first visit to our practice, the acupuncturist will conduct a lengthy interview inquiring about your present symptoms, current medications, medical history, and social and family history. The acupuncturist will also ask about your lifestyle and other behaviors that may contribute to your health problems. This will allow the acupuncturist to form a comprehensive picture of your health conditions and prepare an individualized treatment plan for your specific needs. Your first acupuncture treatment will follow this comprehensive consultation.

3. How long does each appointment last?

Your first office visit will last from one and a half to two hours including both the comprehensive consultation and the acupuncture treatment session. Follow up office visits will usually last 45 minutes to one hour and predominantly consist of acupuncture therapy.

4. What special instructions do you have before acupuncture treatment?

Please wear loose clothing as it allows easier access to your arms and legs during treatment. If the treatment involves your back or torso region, our office provides clean sheets for your modesty.

5. What will I experience during acupuncture treatment?

As acupuncture needles are very fine, most patients do not experience pain while a few may feel a quick pinprick or very minimal discomfort when needles are inserted through the skin. Once the needles are in place, you may experience some soreness or tightness which is generally well tolerated and usually a good sign that your body is reactive to the treatment. After the treatments most patients feel relaxed.

6. Are there any side effects of acupuncture treatment?

When acupuncture is administrated by a well-trained, licensed acupuncturist it causes no risk of injuries and very little risk of infections. In rare occasions treatment may cause slight bruising but it is generally a very safe and well tolerated treatment.

7. What payment methods does Harmony Acupuncture & Oriental Medicine accept?

Our practice accepts all major credit cards, cash, and personal checks. An itemized receipt will be provided at your request for the purposes of insurance claim.
